The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has criticised the ban imposed on protests such as dharna in front of the office of Kolar Superintendent of Police.×The outfit demanded that the banner instructing ban on protests put up at the office at Tamaka on the outskirts of the town be removed.“People stage protests near the office seeking justice in several cases when the lower level police fail to deliver justice”, KRRS State vice-president K. Narayana Gowda said. “Police have sold the justice to politicians and rich people. If the poor approach the police seeking justice they will be denied it”, he said.
Though the government has set up red gram procurement centres at Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) yards to purchase the crop directly from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) of ₹ 5,050, most of the crop is being sold at lower prices to private traders and dal mills.For instance, 8,123 quintals of red gram was purchased by private parties at the Kalaburagi APMC on Tuesday and only 154 quintals were procured at the two procurement centres. These State-established centres have procured only 1,818.50 quintals in the last one week.
Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene have urged the State government to take action against the practice of taking away foodgrains as samples placed for sale outside shops at the Agriculture Produce and Marketing Committee here.Hundreds of farmers, who staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Raichur on Tuesday, urged the government to curb the practice as traders had been taking away one kilogram foodgrains as samples even after price is fixed for the foodgrains during the tender process.
Khushboo Goel Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner, has directed lead bank officials to ensure that farmers insured their rabi crops to benefit under the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana effectively.Addressing a meeting of farmers and bank officials to review the progress of crop insurance so far here on Tuesday, Ms. Chowdhary suggested that the bank officials extend co-operation to farmers when the latter complained that there was no proper response from bankers to them to get their crops insured and sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner in addressing their problems.

Over 100 Karnataka farmers symbolically ‘auctioned off’ UB city, a landmark building in Bengaluru. The building that belongs to billionaire Vijay Mallya was attached by the Enforcement Directorate in June this year.On Wednesday, members of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (a leading farmer’s organisation) and Karnataka Jana Shakti protested at UB City, demanding that the government should write off farmers’ loans, just like the Vijay Mallya’s loans were written off by SBI.The city police detained 80 protesters and released them in the evening.
ಧಾರವಾಡ: ರೈತರ ವಿವಿಧ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಈಡೇರಿಸುವಂತೆ ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ರೈತ ಸಂಘ, ಹಸಿರು ಸೇನೆ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ರೈತರು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಕಡಪಾ ಮೈದಾನದಿಂದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಕಚೇರಿವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನಾ ರ್ಯಾಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಕಳೆದ ಮೂರ್ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟಾಗಿರುವ ತೀವ್ರ ಬರಗಾಲದಿಂದಾಗಿ ರೈತ ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆಗೆ ಶರಣಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಜತೆಗೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರಗಳ ರೈತ ವಿರೋಧಿ ನೀತಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ರೈತನ ಬದುಕು ಬೀದಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಬೆಳೆದ ಬೆಳೆಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಬೆಲೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಸರ್ಕಾರಗಳು ಕೂಡ ರೈತನ ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದರಿಂದ ರೈತ ಸಾವಿನ ದವಡೆಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ದೂರಿದರು.
