Farmers protest for water and fodder for cattle

Rajya Raitha Sangha and Namma Karnataka Rakshana Vedike workers staged a protest in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday demanding supply of drinking water and fodder for cattle.

The activists took out a rally from Mini Vidhana Soudha to Azad Circle. Addressing the protesters, Rajya Raitha Sangha district president Udde Gowda said that the district is reeling under drought for the last five years. “The farmers are in distress. The residents are getting one barrel of water a week. The district administration should find a permanent solution to the water woes. Coffee and pepper are drying away without water,” he said.

He urged the government to waive the loans of the farmers from banks. Namma Karnataka Rakshana Vedike leader Mohankumar said that gomala land should be earmarked for cattle in Tarikere taluk. The work on filling water in 53 water tanks from Amrithapura lift irrigation project should be taken up.

A memorandum was submitted to Additional Deputy Commissioner M L Vaishali on the occasion.

ಮೈಸೂರು: ಸಾಲ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿ ಸಂಸದ ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ ಕಚೇರಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ರೈತ ಸಂಘ ಹಾಗೂ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಜನಶಕ್ತಿ ಸಂಘಟನೆ ರೈತರಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.ಕಳೆದು ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಬರಗಾಲದಿಂದ ಕಂಗೆಟ್ಟಿರುವ ರೈತರು ಬೆಳೆನಷ್ಟ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆದರಿ ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ದಾರಿ ಹಿಡಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯ¸ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಸಾಲ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡಿ ರೈತರ ಹಿತ ಕಾಪಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು.ಖಾಸಗಿ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಉದಾರತೆ ತೋರಿ ಸಾಲ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಮೋದಿ, ದೇಶದ ಬೆನ್ನೆಲುಬಾದ ರೈತರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕಾಳಜಿ ತೋರಲು ಮನಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ರೈತರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ರೈತರ ಕಷ್ಟ ಅರಿಯಬೇಕಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕಿಡಿಕಾರಿದರು.ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನಾಕಾರರಿಂದ ಮನವಿ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರತಾಪ್ ಸಿಂಹ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಟೀಲ್ ಬ್ರಿಡ್ಜ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಉತ್ಸುಕವಾಗಿರುವ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯನವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ರೈತರ ಪರ ಕಾಳಜಿ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ರೈತರ ಸಾಲ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡಲಿ. ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒತ್ತಡ ತಂದು ನಾವು ಸಾಲ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರ: ಸಂಸದ ವೀರಪ್ಪ ಮೊಯ್ಲಿ ಗೃಹ ಕಚೇರಿಗೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ರೈತ ಸಂಘದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಇಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.ನಗರದ ಸುಬ್ಬರಾಯನ ಪೇಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಗೃಹ ಕಚೇರಿಗೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನಾಕಾರರು, ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಆಕ್ರೋಶ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ರು. ಇನ್ನು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬಜೆಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರಪೀಡಿತ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಜ್ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ರೈತರ ಸಾಲ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ರು.ಸಂಸದ ಮೊಯ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒತ್ತಡ ತರುವಂತೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರವೂ ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದರು.

The Supreme Court’s order to Karnataka on releasing 2,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu till February 7 has triggered protests in Maddur of the district.On Thursday, many Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) members blocked the traffic on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and urged the State government not to discharge water as the farmers here are reeling under severe drought.KRRS leader Konasale Narasaraju, who led the protest, said that the farmers in the Cauvery delta, for the last several years, have been losing crops continuously owing to drought and the Cauvery water crisis.

‘Relax ban on borewellsin coastal districts’ – The Hindu

Activists of the Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha (KRRS) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday opposing the ban on drilling borewells in the State for irrigation.In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, president of Dakshina Kannada unit of KRRS Ravikiran Punacha said that the water table in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have not depleted alarmingly and hence, both the districts should be excluded from the August 20, 2016 ban.

Kalaburagi reaps a better red gram yield but is faced with unsatisfactory price – The Hindu

Though the government has set up red gram procurement centres at Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) yards to purchase the crop directly from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) of ₹ 5,050, most of the crop is being sold at lower prices to private traders and dal mills.For instance, 8,123 quintals of red gram was purchased by private parties at the Kalaburagi APMC on Tuesday and only 154 quintals were procured at the two procurement centres. These State-established centres have procured only 1,818.50 quintals in the last one week.
